Let's together bust stereotypes.

We are taught so much about stereotypes and how they must be busted.Everyone says,"Don't judge a book by it's cover" but very few of them really put it to practice. There's always this challenge that everyone faces, of one not going against societal values, which is one of the main reason for so many stereotypical views.

"Women are homemakers and Men, the breadwinners", is the most common judgement formed and been carried forward by our ancestors, who have further marked it as a 'societal morale' which is evidently visible in rural areas.

A perfect example that exhibits this stereotype is presently being telecast on Star Plus channel, through the tele-serial "Anupama". This serial is about a lady, named, Anupama, who's life revolves only around her in-laws, husband and her children. In this serial, other than the younger son, none of the other family members give her the respect that she ought to get. This son, who adores her a lot is very instrumental in making her smile every time he sees her in pain. While her mother-in-law and husband , in particular, always search for reasons to pick on her and blame her for all that goes on in their lives. Her husband never loses an opportunity to remind her that her life must revolve only around her family and not around the happy-go-lucky,jolly life that everyone has the right to live. No matter how good her  intentions are, she is always proved to be wrong and blamed by her family members. She is such a naive lady, that she is also unaware that her husband is cheating on her.  However with a twist in the plot of the entire serial she becomes aware of everything and tries to be an independent woman. All by herself, she tries to break the stereotypical views that once were created, by adapting her whole perspective of the role of women. This example gives us an idea of how the" real life" is still  being depicted through "reel life."

In the past, most stereotypes would always revolve around the portrayal of women. How they dress, eat, walk, sit and, each and everything that is with regard to how a women is being judged. Although in the present times we see how these views are slowly being debunked as a result of changed mindsets held by many which is quite evident through the success of many women. Our perspectives and opinions being the key as to how stereotypical ideas are viewed has brought a positive change in few while a negative one in the others.

Without one raising their voices towards the injustice that prevails there won't be any chance of justice to the victimised individuals. And this calls for today's youth, that we as individuals must try and make a change that we want to see in  others which will help make the world a better place for everyone to live.
